The script is a reworking of a very old Japanese Buddhist fable, I moved the location to an arid alien planet that is being colonized by humans. The style is a throwback to 1970s Sci-fi imagery.
The above pencil drawing is a panel example from the "Dust" story. I wanted it to be a satire on colonization, all is not what it seems in the story. I also love deserts, ever since I saw the film "Lawrence of Arabia" I have loved the visual appeal of deserts and the perceived romance of the nomadic life style.
Here is a photo of me in a desert in Egypt. I wouldn't recommend camels, horses are much better way to travel by.
And finally a sample page from a Judge Dredd script (which was not written by me). It was a little violent and I felt uneasy drawing these pages, but it was fun to draw Dredd from a sample script. I think I prefer much more fantasy based stuff that is a little more uplifting.
At the moment I am working on a full length original science fiction graphic novel that is both written and illustrated by myself. I hope to bring you news of any official updates when they happen, which hopefully will be soon.
